INSTRUCTIONS FOR BETA WEDNESDAY:

1. If you do not already have it installed, you will need to install the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. You should also make sure you have the latest DirectX 9
2. Start with an up to date Allegiance install (make sure you can play on the regular servers).
3. In ASGS select “Allegiance -> Beta Mode”.
4. Still in ASGS, select “Help -> Update / Repair Critical Files”.
5. Click “Login”. The updater will run again, downloading the beta client.
6. After the updater has finished, click “Login” again.
7. Enjoy the beta! Find or create a new game and test away!

When you are done, there are a couple steps to get back on the regular servers.

1. Turn off beta mode “Allegiance -> Beta Mode”.
2. Revert to the regular client “Help -> Update / Repair Critical Files”
3. Play as normal!

Don’t forget to submit your bugs! and feel free to check out the list of recently closed tickets on trac.

This week there are a lot of repeat empty games on the CDN server. Ignore them, you will not be able to connect to them as the server cloud has gone down. Only games listed as BETA will be playable. I’m attempting to work with the CDN server operator to get this resolved.

I am also aware of the newgamescreen.mdl problem due to it being ASGS protected and am working to find a resolution. Please bear with me, hopefully I’ll have something by next week.

We need people to sign into the beta server and make sure that they can play. That means every one of you sitting in the main game.

For those of you that weren’t able to sign in on previous weeks, the Development team needs details. We need your feedback.

As soon as Thursday hits, the beta server is auto-updated with the latest build and the above instructions involving ASGS will not work.

Help us find the last bugs in Beta before it turns into R6 RC for the Zone Game this Saturday. Download the easy-to-use installer at http://build.alleg.net and just click on the “Free Allegiance” shortcut after install. If you have start-up problems (crashing, etc) try adding -software to your shortcut and play with the device setting window that appears when you load. After a long break, Zone Games have finally returned once again to Allegiance!

ZG date: Saturday 14th August 2010

ZG time: 11:00 PDT, 14:00 EDT, 19:00 BST, 20:00 CEST. This is one hour before normal SG time, don’t forget!! Use this time converter if you are still unsure.

The game will be the first to feature Omicron Hive, Allegiance’s newest faction.

This Zone Game will be played on the beta server.

You will find the instructions on how to launch the R6 Beta below, courtesy of the Dev Team:

5. When it has finished, click “Login”.
6. The Beta Server’s auto-updater will take over from here. When it is finished, it will close Allegiance.
7. Launch ASGS and ensure you are still in “Beta Mode” then click “Login” again.
8. You should now be able to play.

When you are done, there are a couple steps to get back on the regular servers.

2. Revert to the regular client “Help -> Update / Repair Critical Files”
3. Play as normal!

DO NOT use the other installer for this game as it will give you the incorrect beta version. Connect using ASGS only.
